Kingman Regional Medical Center recently named Dr. Efren Cano as its new vice president of primary care. In this position, Cano will oversee the health system’s five primary care clinics, including KRMC Urgent Care – leading a team of providers including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.

Cano is board certified in family medicine. With extensive experience in both patient care and clinical leadership, “Cano has the ideal background to enhance collaboration between primary care providers and hospital leadership,” said Heath Evans, KRMC CEO.

Having been with KRMC for over a decade, Cano is familiar with both the hospital and the Kingman community. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Midwestern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011 and chose Kingman Regional’s Family Medicine Residency Program for his residency training. After completing his residency in 2014, Cano remained with the program and began seeing patients as an attending physician. In 2018, Cano was named associate program director.

“In my new role as VP of primary care, I will work to ensure that patients get the best care possible through supporting providers, improving access, and collaborating across departments and disciplines,” Cano said.

Cano also emphasizes the importance of an approach that considers the unique health needs and challenges of this community. “Factors like socioeconomic status and age can greatly impact health, and we must do our best to address any barriers for our patients,” Cano added.
