Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) partners with Midwestern University to offer our Emergency Medicine Residency Program, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. At KRMC, emergency medicine residents take on a high level of independence and responsibility as they serve a diverse patient population.

Er groupKRMC is the only rural hospital in Arizona with an Emergency Medicine Residency Program. Here, future emergency physicians gain vital experience in a unique rural environment. This program offers high-volume, high-acuity training in an unopposed residency setting, allowing residents to build skills in a range of emergency medicine-based procedures.

Our Mission

The mission of the emergency medicine program at Kingman Regional Medical Center is to provide emergency care to our community with compassion and commitment. Through the usage of innovative ideas, evidence-based medicine, and best-in-class approaches, residents will gain the knowledge to re-imagine emergency care for future generations.

Program Aims

1.     To train physicians with competence in the acquisition of medical knowledge, new emergency medicine research, and the application of evidence-based medicine
2.     To prepare physicians to face a wide array of community health care needs and apply best practice strategies to meet these needs


Program Director

ShaneDerek Meeks, DO, FACOEP, CS

Dr. Meeks is a graduate of Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He completed an Emergency Medicine residency at a Level-1 Trauma Center at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Michigan and has additional training in dive & hyperbaric medicine. Dr. Meeks has extensive training and vast experience in medical education while serving as a Chair and Vice-Dean at Touro University Nevada. He also served as an ER Department Medical Director for 15 years.
