About Me

As a pathologist, Dr. Ryan Swapp is an expert in identifying disease through laboratory analysis of tissue samples, bone marrow, blood, and other body fluids. He specializes in diagnosing a wide range of diseases, including cancer. He also serves as co- medical director of the KRMC Clinical Laboratory, which involves close collaboration with referring physicians to ensure the accuracy and optimization of laboratory testing.

The results of his analysis and diagnosis are detailed in a pathology report and sent to the ordering physician. Your doctor, who is familiar with your medical history and current condition, is in the best position to explain laboratory test results.

Prior to joining KRMC, Dr. Swapp was chief resident in pathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He received his doctorate in medicine from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, and completed his residency training in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He is a current member of several national and international pathology organizations including, the Association for Pathology Informatics, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the College of American Pathology, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, and the American Society of Cytopathology.

With his prestigious training and background, Dr. Swapp adheres to the Mayo Clinic philosophy of "the needs of the patient come first" within KRMC’s clinical laboratory.

Dr. Swapp works to take the perspective of the patient and family in the diagnostic process. In describing his approach to patient care, he states, "I always have in mind that people are very worried while they wait for test results and so I do my utmost to provide extremely thorough and accurate analysis in as little time as possible."
