Residnet clinic What is a medical resident?

A medical resident is a physician who has graduated medical school and is receiving training in a medical specialty (such as family medicine).

During their residency, doctors provide direct care to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician. This means that patients have at least two physicians involved in their care.

At KRMC's Family Practice Residency Clinic, our resident doctors are passionate about their chosen profession in family medicine and are eager to provide their patients attentive and thorough care.

Providing skilled primary care for the whole family

Family medicine is a specialty focused on wide-ranging care for patients of every age. Our residents treat acute illness and injury and provide all the services of a general practitioner, including:

  • Infant care and well child visits
  • Adult and child immunizations
  • Sports or school physicals
  • Yearly exams, physicals, and well-woman health checks
  • Diabetes and hypertension screening
  • Same-day sick visits
  • Skin biopsies
  • EKGs
  • Arthritis injections
  • Osteopathic manipulation

What can I expect at the residency clinic?

A visit to KRMC’s Family Practice Residency Clinic is the same as any other office visit with a primary care provider. However, residents tend to spend extra time with patients, collecting a detailed medical history and performing a thorough physical exam.

Residents review all patient cases with their supervising physician, who will confirm their diagnoses and ensure correct treatment. In certain circumstances, the supervising physician may also examine you and treat your condition.

Care at KRMC’s Family Practice Residency Clinic is billed exactly the same as an office visit with any other primary care provider and is covered by most medical insurances, including Medicare and Medicaid (AHCCCS).

With multiple resident doctors in-office, we offer flexible scheduling based on your health needs.
