Who’s Taking Care of You?

Many Different Professionals Are Involved in Your Hospital Care

During your stay at KRMC, many professionals will be involved in your care. If at any time during your stay, you have a question about who is caring for you, or you need help for any reason, please ask.

Medical Staff

group of happy doctorsYour doctor and other healthcare professionals will work with you and your loved ones in an effort to meet your medical needs. Your attending physician or hospitalist (see below) is responsible for directing your medical care while you are in the hospital. Nurses, dietitians, technicians and other hospital personnel will provide for your needs per your doctors’ orders.

Hospitalist

KRMC’s hospitalist program involves a team of skilled doctors who are specifically trained to monitor and treat patients during their hospital stay. Your doctor may refer you to our hospitalist team to care for you while you’re in the hospital. If so, you may have several hospitalists involved in your care. Your regular doctor will resume your care after you are discharged from the hospital.

Nursing Staff

Your nursing care is provided by a team of professional registered nurses (RNs) and certified nurse assistants (CNAs). A nursing leader is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care on each hospital unit. Please feel free to contact your nurse or the nurse leader if you have questions or concerns.

Case Managers/Social Workers

Case managers are licensed social workers who work with your medical team to plan your discharge from the hospital. They are also trained to help patients and family members with financial, social, and emotional problems that relate to illness and hospitalization. Please notify your nurse if you need to speak with a case manager.

Volunteers

Many thoughtful volunteers give their time and effort to assist patients and visitors at KRMC. They also contribute to making your stay as comfortable as possible. If a volunteer can be of help to you, please ask your nurse.

Other Personnel

During your stay, you may be visited by many other healthcare professionals, including personnel from the laboratoryradiologyrespiratorynutrition services and therapy departments. Professionals from each of these departments wear color-coded uniforms so that you can more easily identify their role in the hospital.

Additionally, nursing managers and hospital administrators periodically visit patients to monitor your overall care. All hospital staff, including volunteers wear identification badges and will introduce themselves and the purpose of their visit when coming to your room.
