About Me

Specializing in non-surgical sports medicine, Dr. Hickman treats acute injuries such as sprains, strains, joint injuries, dislocations, and fractures, as well as overuse injuries such as tendonitis and bursitis.

Originally from Chicago, Dr. Hickman joins KRMC following 6 years of practice in North Carolina, where she also completed her fellowship training in Primary Care/Sports Medicine. She attended the Saint Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri and completed a residency in Family Medicine at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She became a board certified family physician and completed her Sports Medicine fellowship at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

As a sports medicine specialist, Dr. Hickman provides care for children and adults. She sees active individuals at any level, from student athletes to professional athletes and everyone in between. She also treats those who are not physically active but have non-surgical orthopedic issues.

With each patient she sees, Dr. Hickman assesses the functioning of the injured or painful area and recommends the best course of action for effective treatment. She prefers to begin with a conservative approach in caring for her patients.

Dr. Hickman collaborates with a team of providers within KRMC’s system to ensure patients receive the appropriate modes of care for their particular problem or concern. This team includes chiropractors, physical therapists, physiatrists, interventional pain management physicians, and orthopedic surgeons when needed.
