About Me

With extensive training and over 25 years of experience in heart and chest surgery at prestigious medical institutions, Dr. Alain Asher offers a high level of expertise in heart care to our community. In addition to performing heart and chest surgeries, Dr. Asher directs KRMC’s Cardiothoracic Surgery program, which is the only one of its kind in northwest Arizona. The program involves a skilled surgical team and state-of-the-art technologies for providing advanced operations of the heart, which include coronary bypass surgery and open-heart surgery. Additionally, Dr. Asher and his team are experts in minimally-invasive surgical treatments for coronary revascularization, valvular heart disease, heart rhythm disturbances, and thoracic aortic aneurysms.

Dr. Asher came to Kingman from Portsmouth, Ohio where he practiced as a cardiothoracic surgeon and also served as Chairman of the Department of Heart and Vascular Services at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He began practicing as a cardiothoracic surgeon in 1987 and has successfully performed thousands of complex heart surgeries. Dr. Asher attended medical school at the Université De Paris in Paris, France and completed a residency in Critical Care Medicine at Hospital Louis Mourier also in Paris. He then came to the United States where he completed a research fellowship in Surgical Intensive Care at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Afterward, he completed residencies in General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York.

In addition to his extensive medical training and experience, Dr. Asher has been appointed as Assistant Professor among the faculties of such prominent medical schools as Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York, NY; Columbia University in New York, NY; and as Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, NJ; and the Ohio College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, OH. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and is a member of a number of professional medical societies. He has also performed medical research on treatments for various cardiovascular conditions and on designing and testing new medical equipment used during heart surgery.

In describing his approach to patient care, Dr. Asher states “Every patient is different, and a customized approach is essential. I strive to individualize every phase, from initial evaluation through planning a procedure and organizing the post operative follow-up. My patients, along with their families, become essential participating partners in the design of their operation and of their subsequent care. Our team is made up of very caring individuals who not only communicate well with the patient’s Primary Care physician and Cardiologist, but will also become the patient's lifelong friends and support.”
