Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit

The Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) specializes in treating patients who have undergone heart surgery or who are otherwise seriously ill with a heart or vascular condition. For example:

Our CVICU staff includes dedicated nurses certified in critical care who collaborate with our team of cardiologists, critical care specialists, and cardiothoracic surgeons to implement a detailed plan-of-care tailored to the patient’s individual needs.

Like KRMC’s intensive care unit, the CVICU is equipped with advanced technology for continually monitoring and supporting the patient’s heart, breathing, and other organ functions. Additionally, the CVICU is equipped with other state-of-the-art technology to assist critically ill heart patients in their recovery.  For example, our capabilities include:

  • Aquapheresis medical therapy designed to remove excess salt and water from the body
  • Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
  • Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation  (ECMO)
  • Impella (Percutaneous Ventricular Assist Device)
  • Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IAPB)
