Observational Study of Cancer Patients who Contract COVID-19

Study name: NCI COVID-19 in Cancer Patients Study (NCCAPS): A Longitudinal Natural History Study

Description: Researchers at the WL Nugent Cancer Center are conducting an observational study of cancer patients who contract COVID-19 to better understand how cancer affects COVID-19 and how COVID-19 affects cancer treatment outcomes.

Who can participate?

This study is open to cancer patients who:

  • Are currently receiving treatment for cancer
  • Will start treatment for cancer within 2 weeks
  • Have a pending or positive SARS-CoV-2 test(the virus that causes COVID-19)  

What to expect

  • You will meet with your doctor to discuss what is involved in the study and the possible benefits and risks. If you and your doctor agree this observational study is right for you, you will be asked to sign a consent form.

  • Researchers will collect information about your condition (including blood and imaging tests) for up to two years to better understand if there are any long-term effects of COVID-19 for those with cancer.
