Kingman Regional Medical Center Gets SCF Arizona
Sentinel Award
The Kingman
Regional Medical Center was presented SCF Arizona’s
Sentinel Award for its commitment to workplace safety in Kingman,
Mohave County and northwest Arizona.
SCF Arizona
Director of Marketing & Sales Rick Jones presented
the award, which recognizes larger company policyholders that work
with their employees to create a culture of safety, have a positive
working relationship with SCF, record no fatalities during the policy
year and maintain a good safety record for the previous three years.
The Kingman Regional Medical Center is a not-for-profit health
facility with 1,200 employees. It offers a full range of
health and wellness
services, including a wellness and fitness center, a primary care
physician practice, advanced medical programs in cardiology, cancer
and rehabilitation, and home health and hospice care. The center
also serves as a teaching hospital in affiliation with Midwestern
University to train doctors specializing in family practice, dermatology
and emergency medicine.
“We really appreciate the recognition,” Kingman Regional Medical
Center CEO Brian Turney said, when receiving the award. “It has been a
team effort that has required support from our employees at all levels of the
organization.”
Maintaining a safe workplace takes training and monitoring, says
Lisa Dreer, the center’s benefits and compensation analyst. She described the center’s
safety program in four parts:
* Multidisciplinary inspections of all clinical areas twice a
year and to non-clinical areas once a year. Reports of deficiencies,
work orders
and
corrections are
made. Staff education is completed. Staff concerns are solicited and
feedback given.
* Round the clock safety hotline gives all employees an opportunity
to report any concerns.
* Safety recap is listed monthly on activities by the center’s safety
committee.
* Annual safety carnival provides fun for employees as well as
interactive education on safety-related topics.
SCF
Arizona is the state’s largest provider of workers’ compensation
insurance, covering more than 57,000 Arizona companies, representing
nearly 70 percent of the market. As a leading advocate of workplace
safety, SCF Arizona sponsors five Safety Works Expos statewide.
