LaSenita Instructor Honored David Grassi, Physical Education Instructor at LaSenita Elementary School was recently awarded the 2007 All Star Teacher of the Year award by Project Fit America (PFA). This award started in 1999 as a way to recognize those instructors who display exceptional dedication to the kids, outstanding creativity in PFA program usage, quality of continuity in PFA program usage and excellent rapport with other faculty members, principals and parents. This year a total of nine outstanding teachers were selected for this award nationally. David was recognized for the spirit, energy, dedication and commitment that make him a world-class teacher. He is an advocate and role model for students and peers alike and will be a mentor for other teachers across the country. In 2005, the Kingman Regional Medical Center Foundation and the Kingman Unified School District launched Project Fit America at LaSenita, Cerbat and Black Mountain elementary schools. Each school received new outdoor fitness equipment, a cardiovascular fitness education curriculum for kids in each grade, and staff training and development. After two years, each school has a fully integrated PFA program to benefit current and future students. The two organizations will be partnering again in 2008 to bring the PFA program to Manzanita Elementary School in the fall. For more information about Project Fit America, visit their website
