KRMC Doctors Receive Recognition

Husband and wife duo, Drs. Michael and Kelli Ward, were honored on April 20, 2007, when they each received an award from the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association (AOMA).

Family physician and Director of Medical Education at KRMC, Dr. Kelli Ward, was named Arizona's Physician of the Year for 2007. Requirements for this award include having been in practice for 5 years, providing continuous, compassionate care for patients, being involved in the osteopathic profession through leadership work and education of medical students and residents, and involvement in community activities.

Her husband, Dr. Michael Ward, the Director of the Emergency Department at Kingman Regional Medical Center also received an honor on April 20th. He was given the AOMA Humanitarian Award for his years of volunteer service in the Arizona Air National Guard. As a physician in the military his role was to provide care to people, no matter what side of the battle they were on. In 2004, Dr. Ward took a voluntary tour in Iraq to assist his former unit from Michigan with their mission. He cared for U.S. soldiers, enemies, and civilians - whoever needed help. A Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard, he recently took command of the medical component of the Guard unit at Sky Harbor in Phoenix. He accepted his award on behalf of all of the volunteer physicians out there in all branches of the military. Along with being the Director of Emergency Medicine, he is the President of Arizona Emergency Medicine Specialists, a group of board certified emergency medicine physicians who staff the KRMC Emergency Department.
