Kingman Regional Medical Center Executive Elected to
Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association 2008 Chairmanship

Brian Turney, FACHE, president and chief executive officer of Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC), has been elected 2008 chairman of the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association (AzHHA) Board of Directors. Turney, who joined AzHHA’s Board of Directors in 2002, served previously on the Association’s Northern Regional Council and its Council on Government Relations.

“As AzHHA’s 2008 chairman, I would like to continue focusing on strategies to meet the demands of the state’s workforce shortage, as well as patient safety initiatives. Both of these issues significantly impact the patients we serve,” said Turney. “Past leadership of the Association has done an excellent job of bringing together leaders from hospitals statewide to address such issues. I look forward to working with this energetic and thoughtful group on the important challenges hospitals will face in 2008.”

During Turney’s 22-year career at KRMC, the organization has experienced significant growth and expanded its services, including major construction projects that added 400,000 square feet and established the facility as a teaching hospital for interns and residents in family practice, dermatology and emergency medicine. In 1994, KRMC’s Board of Directors appointed Turney interim CEO of the medical center, and in 1995 Turney became its president and CEO.

Individuals and organizations both have recognized KRMC for its advances. In 2007, the hospital received the “Arizona Innovation Award” from Governor Janet Napolitano for its efforts to proactively enhance healthcare in a rural community. KRMC also received the Kingman Area Chamber of Commerce “Business of the Year” in 1999 and again in 2004. The KRMC Hospital Foundation has significantly improved its fundraising efforts and community support during Turney’s tenure as CEO.

Active in community and professional affairs, Turney serves on the Kingman Rotary Club and is a member of the Midwestern University/OPTI board and a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the international organization that accredits healthcare executives.
