Project Fit America The Kingman Regional Medical Center (KRMC) Foundation and the Kingman Unified School District (KUSD) recently announced the launching of Project Fit America (PFA) in three Mohave County schools. Never before has there been so many out-of-shape, overweight and inactive American children. Since 1980, childhood obesity has tripled according to the U.S. Surgeon Generals’ Report. KRMC Foundation and KUSD have chosen to take an active role in turning around the fitness patterns of Mohave County youth by partnering with PFA to provide an innovative program that helps young people value and nurture their physical well-being early on – so they’ll have good health to enjoy life as adults. Formed in July 1990, PFA is currently in 400 schools, in over 250 cities in 38 states. Kingman will be the first city in Arizona to provide this program for our school children. Each school will receive new outdoor fitness equipment, a cardiovascular fitness education curriculum for kids in each grade, and staff training and development. At the end of the two years, each school will have a fully integrated PFA program to benefit current and future students. The official launch of Project Fit America will be held Thursday, September 22, 2005 starting with Black Mountain Elementary, 3404 N. Santa Maria in Golden Valley, at 9:00 a.m. The program will then move to LaSenita Elementary, 3175 Gordon Drive in Kingman, at 11:00 a.m. followed by Cerbat Elementary, 2689 Jagerson Avenue in Kingman at 1:30 p.m. Each school will have a ribbon cutting ceremony with entertainment
by the students. Refreshments will be provided at each location.
The general public is welcome to attend.
