Application for 4th Annual Route 66 10k/5k Race & 3-Mile Walk May 12th, 2007 – 4th Annual Route 66 Race for Hospice The Fourth Annual Historic Route 66 Race for Hospice will be held on Saturday, May 12th. The 10k and 5k races begin and end at the Powerhouse Visitor Center on Route 66/Andy Devine. You will follow Route 66 up the El Trovatore Hill and then turn on to Hualapai Mountain Road for a short distance before turning around and running back into downtown Kingman. The 3-mile walk also starts at the Powerhouse Visitor Center then meanders through historic downtown Kingman before finishing at Locomotive Park where the closing awards ceremony will be held. This year we have added a one mile race for juniors 12 years and under! Pick up your packet at the Dambar & Steakhouse on Friday, May 11th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and receive a coupon for 20% off a dinner. Entry fee is $25 for adults and $15 for juniors 12 years and younger prior to May 1st, 2007. Fee is $30 thereafter. Participants who raise $100 or more in pledges will have their entry fee waived and be eligible for prizes. All participants will receive a colorful t-shirt and grab bag. Trophies will be given to 1st place male and female finisher for 10k and 5k. Prizes will also be awarded for top three finishes by age group and gender for both events. This event continues to grow each year. In 2004 there were 158 participants, in 2005 there were 231 and in 2006 we had 279! The walkers raised over $14,000 with Gail Fry raising $1,610 in pledges and winning the prize for the most pledges.
