October 2007 Employee of the Month
Vicky Dademasch

Registered Nurse, Vicky Dademasch from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has been named the KRMC Employee-of-the-Month for October. According to Carol Ludlow, ICU Director, Vicky deserves recognition because her “commitment goes far beyond the doors of the department… I have witnessed her dedication for many years.”

Ludlow further states that Vicky has a special gift for connecting with her patients and their families. “She takes great care of her patients and takes pride in their care. She takes the time to talk with the families of patients and includes them in the patient’s care—keeping them informed… She offers a warm smile and a tender ear,” she says.

Vicky started working for KRMC 13 years ago as a Certified Nursing Assistant while continuing her nursing education at Mohave Community College. She received her LPN the next year and her RN the year after that. However, Vicky’s true start at KRMC was when she was 5 years-old and began accompanying her Grandmother on volunteer work at the hospital. At that time, her grandmother was president of the hospital auxiliary.

The experience made a huge impression on Vicky. “Since I was a child, I’ve always wanted to be a nurse,” she says. She adds that her Grandmother suffered terribly from diabetes and that she learned very early the value of compassionate care. “I now try to treat every patient as if they’re family,” she says.

Vicky lives in Kingman with her husband Dave, who is a Respiratory Therapist at KRMC; her stepson Seth (17); and their three dogs—a Rottweiler and two Chihuahuas. She also has three other children: son Chris (20), daughter Jessica (19), and stepdaughter Brittney (18).

In her spare time, Vicky enjoys photography, white-water rafting, and reading. She also excels at baking and says that lemon meringue pie is one of her specialties.

When asked what she likes most about working for KRMC, Vicky responded “What’s not to like?” She says that she’s especially fond of her coworkers and appreciates the daily opportunity to bond with patients and their families.
