Employee of the Month: Jan Thill

Outgoing Jan Thill, mammography assistant at KRMC’s Imaging Center, has been named the employee of the month for March. She began at KRMC in the cafeteria in 2005 and moved to the Imaging Center in 2006.

Jan is responsible for organizing the mammography team’s processes to assure that all patients are served in a timely and professional manner. Her associates teasingly call her “the benevolent slave driver.” However, according to KRMC Imaging Center supervisor, Tami Logan, “Jan is indispensable in keeping our busy mammography team functioning smoothly. She makes having a mammogram a pleasant experience for both the patients and the technologists.”

Even with her high efficiency and organizational skills, Jan demonstrates that people are her first priority. She projects a kind, compassionate, and caring attitude to everyone and is always positive and upbeat. She is especially attentive to patients who are unfamiliar with the mammography process and to those who are frightened about possible results. She listens and often offers hugs and encouragement to help comfort them.

Her compassion for patients is also demonstrated by her efforts to educate them about breast cancer. According to Ms. Logan, “I’ll never forget the day I passed by the mammography waiting room and saw Jan standing in front of five women— teaching them how to do a self breast exam.”

Jan and her husband Bill moved to Kingman from Lakewood, California in 1991. He is a retired officer from the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department. She says that they’re very much “homebodies.” He is interested in computers, while she likes to read and cook. But, they both enjoy regular work-outs at the wellness center.

Congratulations Jan and thank you for your valuable contributions at the Imaging Center. Your boss said it best: “One could not ask for a more positive, loyal, dedicated, caring, and fun employee.” We second that!
