For those who are caring for family members or loved ones. Find out what support and assistance is available to you and your family. Find out how others are coping. This group is open to any person that considers themselves a caregiver.
"Here are some ways to reduce caregiver stress:
  • Get a diagnosis for your loved one as early as possible so you know what treatment options are.
  • Know what community resources and care options are available for you.
  • Get respite help, take care of yourself with proper rest, diet and exercise.
  • Manage your level of stress with relaxation techniques that work for you.
  • Accept changes in your loved one as they occur.
  • Consult with an attorney or legal service for legal and financial planning.
  • Give yourself credit and not guilt. You are doing your best, and weak moments or lack of patience will occur.

  • "If you are a caregiver for more than a year or two, you will need to share your feelings with someone, a counselor or another caregiver. Remember: Don't neglect yourself. Your health is important. Listen to your body and respond appropriately."
