April employee of the month

Comments Off

April’s employee of the month is Kathy Steck. She is a certified unit coordinator for the second floor pediatric unit. Kathy has worked at KRMC for ten years, all as a unit coordinator.

She is originally from Boston. She moved to Phoenix at the age of fourteen and spent the next twenty-five years there. While in Phoenix, she worked as a medical assistant while raising her family. After her children were grown, she and her husband opted to move to Dolan Springs to be closer to his parents. The Stecks have lived in Dolan Springs for over ten years now.

Kathy’s favorite part of working at KRMC is the people. She loves her interactions with her co-workers and all of the patients. It keeps her motivated to help the patients and see their health improve.

Kathy belongs to the NAHUC (National Association of Health Unit Coordinators). The organization is called Desert Stompers. She is currently the Vice President of her chapter.

She has been with her husband, Robert, for over twenty-seven years. He owns the local barber shop with his dad in Dolan Springs.

Together they have two children, Jennifer 33, and Ralphie, 31; and seven grandchildren ranging in ages from 2 to 16.

When Kathy isn’t working, she loves to spend time with her family, travel, and camp. Her mom lives in Prescott, so she travels down there quite often to visit her and enjoy all that the area has to offer.

A little-known fact about Kathy is that she was given an award by the Peoria Police Department for helping to save a woman’s life after a shooting in her neighborhood twenty years ago.

When asked about her, Kathy’s supervisor told us that Kathy is the vision of an ideal employee. She is accountable, has pride in her performance, is a team player, and has a heart of gold. She is an asset not only to our department, but to KRMC as well. She consistently goes above and beyond in every aspect of her job.

Way to go, Kathy!
